1/3/09 - Well, I made it through another holiday season. Seems like the last two weeks have just been a
blur. Lots of people took advantage of our holiday pricing on parts. Thanks to all of our customers in
2009, and we look forward to serving you in 2010. It's really cold in Ohio right now -- 5 degrees today,
but Daytona is just two months away, so it's time to get to work. My new Ducati 800SS racebike needs
new bodywork, paint, and a complete going over from top to bottom. Not to mention I need to stop the
holiday-style eating and get back on the exercise bike. After all, 7 pounds equals 1 horsepower!
11/2/09 - The 2001 996 has arrived, and it's really nice. If you're looking for clean bodywork, carbon fiber
airbox/ducts, carbon fenders, Ohlins shock, Corbin seat, Termignoni exhaust, etc., be sure to check out
the 2001 996 pages.
10/24/09 - Have been very busy with racing and other projects, so I haven't kept this updated. Have a
2001 996 Mono on it's way -- picking it up Tuesday evening. Raced the AHRMA season finale at Barber
two weekends ago on a new-to-me Ducati 800SS. Will get a race report and some photos up soon.
9/14/09 - Working on building the pages for 749R race bike. Now just need to start taking the bike apart
and take photos. It's amazing how much time it all takes (remember, Wounded Duc isn't my full-time
gig.) Also working on getting photos and updating site for the various Ducati parts I picked up from my
local dealer who's going out of business.
9/02/09 - Haven't downloaded all the MotoGP pictures from my camera yet, but I snapped this one with
my Blackberry and wanted to share. Very nice HD XR1200 built by Jesse Rook. Note the Ducati MHE900
swingarm flipped and mounted on the right side. I'm sure the turbo is a silly addition (how cooked is
your right knee going to be?), but, unlike most customs, this one looks like it would actually be a good
rider.
9/1/09 - Just returned from the Indy MotoGP -- what a great event. Racing was awesome -- sure wish
Pedrosa and Rossi would have stayed upright to see them race to the end. Great to see Hayden on the
box; he's had a hell of a tough year. Pedrosa surely won some fans with his post-crash ride from 17th
place and 10 seconds behind the closest rider to tenth place -- loud applause for the Spaniard on his
cool-down lap. Saw most of the riders interviewed Friday morning, which was neat. Rossi painting
went for $8,000 at the Rider's for Health auction. Nicky draws a big crowd, but Rossi is still "The Man"
wherever he goes. Indy Mile was great again. Standing inside Turn 3 and watching Kenny Roberts toss
the TZ750 sideways was really cool. Tons of MotoGP riders, crew members, and AMA riders wandering
around the paddock. Ducati Indy track day on Monday was another great day -- perfect weather, nice
track, and lots of cool bikes.
8/26/09 - Getting ready to leave tomorrow for the Indy MotoGP. Last year's event was great, despite
absolutely awful weather, so really looking forward to this year's event. Hitting the Indy Mile again
Saturday night, and instructing with Sportbike Track Time at the Ducati Indy Track Day at Putnam Park on
Monday.
8/25/09 - Heard from a friend who's owned a multi-line motorcycle dealership for the past 20 years --
they're going out of business. New bike sales were down this summer more than 50%. Sad.
8/21/09 - Been an interesting silly season in MotoGP. Seems like everyone is waiting to see where
Lorenzo lands before the musical chairs starts. The Stoner stuff has been beyond weird -- definitely
seems to be more going on there than meets the eye. Would love to see Spies move up to the Tech 3
squad. I don't think another season in WSBK is going to do him any harm, but the new rule in MotoGP
prohibitting rookes from moving directly to a factory team means if he doesn't move up this year, it's
going to be 2012 at the earliest before he makes it to a factory squad.
8/19/09 - Argh! Just found out my racebike -- a Ducati 749R -- has a crack in the engine cases. And new
cases are $5,000! I'd been kicking around getting a new racebike, but I guess this has forced my hand.
Looks like I'll be parting out the 749R and shopping for a new racebike (mmmmm, the new 1198S sure
looks nice . . .)
8/17/09 - Hey, welcome to my Blog. I'll try to post a few thoughts here now and then. No personal stuff
(do you really want to hear about my niece's birthday?); just motorcycle stuff, race stuff, and Wounded
Duc stuff.
